Firefox Bookmark Migration

HOWTO: Migrate Firefox Bookmarks from one computer to another.

Open Firefox on the computer containing the bookmarks you wish to copy.

From the drop-down menus at the top, select Bookmarks and then select Manage Bookmarks...

In the subsequent window that opens, select File from the drop-down menus at the top, and then select Export...

In the file dialog that appears, either save the file to a location that is common to both computers in question, if on a network. If not, save the file to a floppy or a CD.

Proceed then to the "destination" computer, and open Firefox.

From the drop-down menus at the top, select Bookmarks and then select Manage Bookmarks...

In the subsequent window that opens, select File from the drop-down menus at the top, and then select Import...

In the Import Wizard, select From File from the three available options, and click on Next >.

In the Import Bookmark File window, navigate to either the shared folder you used earlier, or to the floppy or CD containing your Bookmarks, select the file, and click on Open.

You will, after a short pause, be placed back into the Bookmark Manager window, with all of the bookmarks copied to this new computer. Depending on how much customization you may have done with the new computer, you may find some duplicate folders or bookmarks. Since you are already in the manager, you can move them about, or simply delete them by clicking on them once, and hitting the Delete key on your keyboard.
